A Must See!

Summer of love - 40th Anniversary

6/29 - 8/5 Bush Barn Art Center
Two exhibits, "American Music Posters 1935-2007" in the A.N. Bush Barn Art Gallery and  "When 6 WAS 9: Rock Poster's from San Francisco 1966-71" are on view in Salem, Oregon . The "6 WAS 9" show features  56 posters from Gary Westfjord’s personal collection of vintage rock posters, tickets, albums and other ephemera of the era. The exhibit's rock posters emerged from the San Francisco Bay Area during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Originally tacked on telephone poles and displayed in storefronts, the posters were commissioned by music impresarios Bill Graham and Chet Helms and often were given away at weekly concerts. In recent years, their value as works of art has been firmly established as they have been featured in major exhibitions.

At the Bush Barn Gallery:  The American Music Posters 1935 - 2007 Exhibit Features 60 Posters from 3 Different eras, included are 15 posters from the Willamette Valley Cottonwoods Ballroom, 25  1960's posters from San Francisco and 30 contemporary posters from "Voodoocatbox" of Portland Oregon.

Also showing will be seven posters designed by Chemeketa Community College graphic design students and examples of authentic vintage 1960s clothing presented by Sam Hart of the LiL' Gypsy Vintage Boutique & Costumes in Salem,
